In the spring of 1982 I was 15 years old. This album was unlike anything we heard up to this point. I was a 9th grader at Glenridge Junior High School. The bands that I was listening to were REO Speedwagon – (Keep On Loving You), Van Halen ((Oh) Pretty Woman), Stevie Nicks (Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around), Journey (Open Arms) , Huey Lewis and the News (Do You Believe in Love) and the Go-Go’s (Vacation). Nu-Wave as it was known at the time was just breaking and this album was on the radio all the time. This was driving “lookin’ for chicks” music and I just loved it. 1982 was an amazing year for music as a teenager.
Two monster songs from the Seagulls that I would listen to for the rest of my life (and a third bonus track that would be released October of the same year)…
“Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)” is a 1982 song by A Flock of Seagulls, the opening song and only hit single from their second album Listen.
