The time it takes to read the Bible varies significantly depending on reading speed, translation, and reading style. For continuous reading at an average speed of 200 words per minute, it takes approximately 65 to 75 hours to read the entire Bible, with estimates ranging from 65 hours for the King James Version to about 74 hours and 28 minutes on average. This equates to roughly 2.5 to 3 days of non-stop reading. However, most people read the Bible in smaller daily sessions, which extends the completion time. For example, reading just 10 to 15 minutes per day can allow someone to finish the Bible in about one year. Structured reading plans can also influence the timeline: a 30-day plan requires about 2 to 3 hours daily, while a 90-day plan needs roughly 45 to 60 minutes per day. The New Testament alone takes about 15 hours to read, and the Old Testament takes around 52 hours, depending on the version. Many readers choose to read more slowly for reflection and deeper understanding, which can extend the process to several years, as some consider studying the Bible a lifelong endeavor.
