Day 01 – Oct 6, 2026 – Tuesday
Arrived at Advent Hospital around 4:45am. Left around 12:30pm. The pre-op procedure was different in many ways. It seems there is not a standard way of doing things. The Dr told my wife that it went very well and there were no issues. Wife confirmed this by saying that I was back in surgery for a shorter period of time than the previous surgery.
Back home, the pain was definitely more intense than before. I need the walker all day and needed assist for just about everything. Unable to get in and out of bed by myself and unable to walk around without both hands on the walker.
Used the compression socks and the iced every hour for the entire day. The compression socks are a game changer. There is virtually no swelling in my calf and foot. Wish I had been told differently last time. My skin was ripping in my foot and calf post-op in my right leg. Regardless, this time around I know what to do and what not to do.
Sleeping was a bit difficult, unable to sleep on my right side unassisted.
Unable to do exercises at home due to the severe pain.
Day 02 – Oct 7, 2026 – Wednesday
Woke up around 3am. The pain is terrible, began using the Oxy right away and took a pill every 4 hours all day. Appetite was good and no constipation. Took Metamusil right away after getting up, drank prune juice twice and ate sugar free candy all day.
Unable to do exercises due to severe pain.

Day 3 – Oct 8, 2026 – Thursday
Worst day of pain, need assist with everything, sat in recliner almost all day. Oxy every 4 hours. Appetite is good, no constipation.
Unable to do home exercises due to severe pain

Day 4 – Oct 9, 2026 – Friday
First PT evaluation at Advent is today at 115pm. Woke up only once to use the bathroom around 1230am. Realized that I had turned a corner on the pain. Getting in and out of the bed and sleeping on both sides is much easier. Sleep in until about 430am and had some coffee and updated this blog.
Much easier to walk around without severe pain.
