While appearing on the SmartLess podcast in April, Jonah Hill made comments about his Brazilian jiu-jitsu training that only recently went viral. Speaking with co-hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes, Hill confidently claimed he would “f—ing annihilate” most people because of his martial arts skills.
The remarks quickly spread across social media, where many users mocked the two-time Academy Award-nominated actor, arguing that his comments reflected insecurity and lacked the humility typically associated with practicing a martial art.
Hill acknowledged that the physical demands of Brazilian jiu-jitsu have taken a toll on him.
“I love Brazilian jiu-jitsu, except my body is begging me not to love it,” he said. “My wife is often like, ‘You’re not going to become a professional fighter. You know that, right? You’re a comedian.'”
Despite that, Hill doubled down on his confidence.
“If we got into it, I would f— you up. I would f— all three of you up,” he said. “My favorite thing is people are like, ‘Oh, Jonah Hill, f—ing fat guy from Superbad.’ And I’m like, ‘I would f—ing annihilate you, dude. I’m not kidding you. Try it. If you see me, try it, dude. Bring it. Who’s got it?'”
After Hill’s comments went viral, older videos of him training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu resurfaced online. The footage, which shows Hill grappling during training sessions, prompted further discussion on social media, with many users suggesting it portrayed a much less intimidating image than the one he described during the podcast.
I guess if you put up zero resistance stopping the takedown and just let him pass into full mount he might be able to f*** people up
