The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021

Restaurant Noma in Copenhagen has once again been named the best restaurant in the world at The Word’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021 ceremony in Antwerp, Belgium.

Wearing a shirt designed by his daughter, Rene Redzepi, the chef and owner of the restaurant, thanked his team, and said this would never have happened without them.

Noma had previously topped the list four times, but after closing in 2016 and reopening in a new location in 2018, the restaurant was deemed to be an entirely new entry on the list. This makes them the only restaurant to have topped the list in two different locations, and comes just weeks after Noma finally received its third Michelin star.

“This is a celebration and a goodbye at the same time,” Redzepi said, referring to the new Best of the Best category, which means Noma cannot take the number one spot again without relocating for a third time.

Restaurant Review – Rusty’s Seafood and Oyster Bar – Port Canaveral

Rusty’s Seafood & Oyster Bar is located in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Happy hour EVERY DAY from 3 to 6 PM and early bird items served from 11 AM to 6 PM every day!! Rusty’s also has LIVE entertainment every night as well as during the days on weekends. Founded in 1993, Rusty’s Seafood & Oyster Bar is a fresh seafood restaurant with a full liquor bar, featuring an oyster bar for live shucking inside and a large deck and tiki bar for outside seating. Rusty’s offers steamed clams and mussels, raw or steamed oysters by the dozen and half-dozen as well as fresh baked oysters Bernard. .

Rusty’s is about an hour away from Orlando to the east.
Established in 1992. The Fischer family arrived in Port Canaveral in the 1940’s where they opened a seafood distribution plant, the “Fischhouse.” From there they began the offshore fishing fleet of the Miss Cape Canaveral, and thus began the term “From our fishing fleet, to you!” Bernard Fischer, the uncle of Rusty Fischer and the great uncle of son, Rhett Fischer, opened Bernard’s Surf in 1948, where they served celebrities, chocolate covered ants and astronauts. Rusty, while running The Surf, then opened Rusty’s Seafood and Oyster bar in the Port in 1992, and now his son Rhett Fischer runs the business and their 60 employee’s.

My wife and I had planned to go out to Rusty’s several times over the last several months, however, food adventures on the coast can be a challenge when we have other things going on, particularly during Covid. We literally had nothing going on this particular weekend so we decided to head out for some early shopping then out to the coast for yet another food adventure.

Orlando chefs and restaurateurs shut out of James Beard Award nominations yet again

ear after year, Orlando-area chefs and restaurateurs have regularly been named James Beard Award semifinalists, but none have ever made it to the short list of finalists.

Oustanding Restaurateur semifinalists Sue and Jason Chin

And this year is no different.

Today, the James Beard Foundation announced the nominees for its chef and restaurant categories and the five Orlando culinarians vying for a spot on the shortlist didn’t make the cut: Henry Moso of Kabooki Sushi for Best Chef: South, Rabii Saber of the Four Seasons Resort Orlando for Outstanding Pastry Chef, Evette Rahman of Sister Honey’s for Outstanding Baker and Jason and Sue Chin of the Good Salt Restaurant Group for Outstanding Restaurateur.

Winners will be announced on June 13 at an awards ceremony in Chicago.

This year, procedural changes to the voting process had Tasting Panelists visiting restaurants on the long list to help determine the finalists via a ballot. JBF Award Subcommittee members and the Scouts who’ve actively searched for said candidates also had a say in selecting the finalists.

The five semifinalists with the highest number of votes were announced as finalists today.
