WHO IS PASTOR GREG LAURIE
Greg Laurie, born on December 10, 1952, in Long Beach, California, is an American evangelical pastor, evangelist, author, and law enforcement chaplain who serves as the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, a large church based in Riverside, California, with campuses in California and Hawaii.
He became a Christian at age 17 while attending Newport Harbor High School, influenced by evangelist Lonnie Frisbee during the Jesus Movement.
At age 19, he began his pastoral ministry by leading a small Bible study of 30 people, which grew into Harvest Christian Fellowship, now one of the largest churches in America with over 8,000 members.
He founded the Harvest Crusades in 1990, large-scale evangelistic events that have drawn over 11.5 million participants in person and online, and launched Harvest America in 2012, a nationwide outreach using HD livestreaming to reach thousands of venues across the United States.
Laurie has authored more than 70 books, including “Lost Boy,” “Steve McQueen: The Salvation of an American Icon,” and “Jesus Revolution,” which was adapted into a film released in 2023.
He is also the host of the nationally syndicated radio program “A New Beginning,” broadcast on over 1,200 outlets worldwide, and has served as a chaplain for the Newport Beach and Costa Mesa Police Departments.
In 2017, Harvest Christian Fellowship officially joined the Southern Baptist Convention, a move aimed at fostering national revival and awakening.
Laurie and his wife, Cathe, have been married since 1974, have two sons, and five grandchildren.
